Garden Wall Inn
The award-winning Garden Wall Inn has been catering to discerning travelers since 1987. The impeccably restored 1920’s house-turned-inn offers five luxurious guestrooms, each furnished with period antiques. The scrumptious three-course breakfasts are prepared by chef/owners Rhonda Fitzgerald and Chris Schustrom. The Inn is conveniently located, just a one block walk from downtown Whitefish’s charming shops, restaurants and nightspots. Only 25 minutes from Glacier National Park, the Inn is the perfect base camp for exploring the Park.
Originally Whitefish’s finest historic home, the Inn is built in the “Colonial Revival” style with a gambrel roof and clapboard siding. The interior is accented by original solid maple flooring, arts-and-crafts fir moldings, and beveled-glass french doors. The guestrooms’ private baths boast huge claw-foot tubs, pedestal sinks, and black-and-white art-deco tile. Oriental carpets and fine antique furniture complement the lovely rooms.
Each morning guests are treated to a full gourmet breakfast showcasing locally grown produce and products. The meal begins with fresh-squeezed orange juice followed by locally roasted coffee, an elegantly presented fruit course and a beautifully prepared hot entrée.
Some of the things which make The Garden Wall Inn truly exceptional:
* A real log fire – We burn birch and pine logs in our fireplace and we serve hors d’ oeuvres and sherry to complete the cozy feel. Board games and
good books are plentiful.
* In the guest rooms – Fresh flower bouquets, down comforters, heirloom lace sheets and beautiful antique furnishings, and an evening turndown with a handmade chocolate on the pillow
* In the baths – A single red rose in a silver vase, thick plush monogrammed towels (replenished morning and evening), huge claw-foot tubs (with soothing bath beads)
* At breakfast – A wake-up coffee tray delivered to your room. In the breakfast room: snowy white linens, Blue Willow china, silver & cut glass; fresh-squeezed orange juice, homemade pastries and fabulous gourmet entrées.
The owners Rhonda and Mike Fitzgerald, and Chris Schustrom are all lifelong outdoor enthusiasts. Chris is a native, having grown-up in Glacier National Park, and Rhonda and Mike have been exploring every aspect of the Montana outdoors for over twenty years.Their favorite pursuits include: skiing (alpine and cross-country), hiking, fly fishing, kayaking, and mountain biking.
