Headwaters of the Yellowstone B&B and cabins
Headwaters of the Yellowstone Bed and Breakfast is a new home located on the boundary of Yellowstone Park on the Yellowstone River, just 3 miles from the North Entrance of Yellowstone at Gardiner, Montana. We offer a relaxed atmosphere in a quiet location with magnificent views from every room. Enjoy Electric Peak, beautiful in every season, and the sound of the Yellowstone River rushing by as an accompaniment to the view. Four rooms on the ground level have a comfortable bed, private bath attached to the room or immediately across the hall, a large window to enjoy the view and the fresh mountain air, and access to a common room. The common room on the lower level has satellite TV, a refrigerator, an extensive library of books and videos on Yellowstone's wildlife, history, and physical features and comfortable seating for reading or watching videos and TV programing. A patio outside the entry has comfortable seating for stargazing on cool summer evenings and our 3 acres allows for plenty of room to roam. A hearty Montana breakfast is included for each guest in the Bed and Breakfast so you are well prepared for each busy day.
Elk and deer often wander through the area; beaver can be busy with construction or destruction along the river banks, and river otters have been seen enjoying the fast moving waters of the Yellowstone. In the fall guests are warned to watch for bears wandering through in the dark and buffalo are occasional visitors, especially in the winter. Birdwatchers observe the osprey hovering over the river looking for breakfast or the mountain bluebirds filling the trees; the birdfeeders on the deck are busy with the many birds looking for a handout. In the winter eagles are frequent visitors to the trees along the river bank.
Two one bedroom cabins are available for families or larger groups. Cabin 1 has a queen and two twin beds, 3/4 bath, air conditioning in summer and a wood burning stove and electric heat for winter use. Cabin 2 has a king and two twin beds upstairs and a double hide-a-bed in the living room, full bath, air conditioning in summer and propane heater and electric heaters for winter use. Both cabins have fully furnished kitchens, satellite TV, and a gas grill just outside the kitchen door for evening barbecues. The cabins with kitchens are priced with no breakfast in our dining room included but if breakfast is desired it can be available.
On site we have fishing from shore available with a Montana fishing license, horseshoes, croquet and bocce on the lawn, and we are experimenting with a putting green under construction. We can even supply a volleyball set up for family reunion tournaments!
Headwaters has hosted several family reunions and small group reunions. These people enjoyed several days together with the variety of opportunities available here or in the nearby area. Horseback riding, river rafting, shopping, fishing, and of course touring Yellowstone by car, bus, or on snowmobiles.
In winter the drive from Gardiner to Cooke City through the north of the Park is a wonderful opportunity for photographing the abundant wildlife and beautiful winter scenery, or cross country skiing into secluded areas from the road. This is the only year round access into the Park through Park Headquarters in Mammoth Hot Springs and the best area to view the Yellowstone wolves. Snowmobiles are available for rent in Cooke City and there are many trails to enjoy in that area outside Yellowstone Park just 50 miles from us. Make Headwaters your home base as you experience the wonders unique to Yellowstone and the area surrounding America's first National Park.
