Lark and Laurel B&B
The Lark and Laurel is a newly opened bed and breakfast home with an amazing and historic past. The original dwelling was a one-room hand-hewn log house built in the 1870’s when Fort Benton was an active cavalry post. Today you can come, sit down with us and enjoy a cup of coffee in the Log Room!
The rest of the house was added soon after the turn of the century, then completely renovated in 2010. The result is a beautiful Victorian home with all the comforts you could want in your bed & breakfast accommodations.
ROOMS – Our four guest rooms offer luxurious mattresses and bedding and comfortable settings.
The Red Room is our master bedroom, rich in gold and claret textiles, inspired by the luxury of old Tuscany. While rocking in a Civil War rocker at the east window, you can enjoy a sight of the Missouri and the bust of Thomas Meagher near the location of his unfortunate drowning. This room has a private bathroom with shower attached.
The Ivory Room is filled with the hummingbird's busy charm, in delightful cream with pink flowery accents. If you're thinking about a girls' weekend away, this room will inspire you to make it happen! A large full bed and two twins are covered in matching embroidered vine quilts. You'll be able to whisper into the wee hours of the morning here. This is also a good room choice for a family and has an attached private bathroom with shower.
Like a cool spring breeze, the Green Room is refreshing and luxurious. The dusty turquoise and brown decor brings ease to the weary traveler, and the queen sized bed is heaped with inviting pillows. Bed time will be the best time of day as you nestle into this cozy bed and sleep well on one of our great mattresses.
Inspired by the quaint beauty of one of our favorite birds, the Blue Room feels clean and crisp in whites and blues. This room looks from the north-facing window to the gardens and patio below. The queen-sized bed is covered in an heirloom quilt and has one of our deliciously sleep- inducing Englander mattresses.
BREAKFAST – Guests at the Lark and Laurel don't leave hungry from Laurie's breakfast table.
Breakfast combinations include:
• Overnight Eggs Benedict,
• Nalysnaky (a special type of delicious Ukrainian blintz)
• Best Buttermilk, Oatmeal, or Whole Wheat Pancakes
• American Standard (toast, eggs, bacon, potatoes)
• Riverman's Casserole (a baked medley of sausage, egg, bread and cheese)
• Huntsman's Omelet
…and other delicious recipes that our chef and hostess, Laurie, discovers along the way. Our fresh coffee beans are purchased from The Wake Cup Coffeehouse and Laurie brews it strong. (Her theory is that if it some guests find it too potent, hot water can always be added.) Tea is brewed from fresh leaves which are seeped long enough to release the full flavor. Homemade granola is on hand each morning, along with fresh fruit and premium yogurt.
The beautiful pergola and patio are available for breakfast dining, when the season allows. During cool months you'll want to partake at the Italian-style dining room table which looks out onto the lawn. Meet new friends and interesting travellers by sitting with the other guests or, if you prefer more seclusion at a private table, sit down in the living room by the window and be served there. We will also provide room service and serve you en-suite for a $20.00 charge per person.
