Western Heritage Center

Billings Montana Museum

Located in downtown Billings, Montana, is the Western Heritage Center Museum.  This Romanesque sandstone structure houses exhibits which educate the public on the people and places of the Yellowstone watershed region and the northern high plains.

The museum has a broad collection.  This includes photographs, Native American artifacts and art, regional western art, architectural drawings, firefighting equipment, furniture and western tack, clothing and textiles, guns, and Yellowstone National Park memorabilia.

The Center is accredited by the American Association of Museums and is an affiliate of the Smithsonian Museum.   All of this indicates the quality of their exhibits and the value brought to the community.

As you stroll around downtown, pop into the Western Heritage Center.  It is a short visit, maybe an hour, but there is always an interesting display about the area.  Go to their website to see what is currently featured.  Guided tours are available, but feel free to take yourself through the museum.  They are open Tuesday through Friday from 10:00 until 4:00.

Also, what a great place to hold an event.  Imagine you and your guests celebrating amongst the exhibits.  Downtown Billings has so many hidden treasures, all within walking distance.  Take some time to stay a few days and explore. Make sure to ask your B&B host about the places not to miss.
