Museum of the Rockies
Dinosaurs! Yes, the Museum of the Rockies has an extensive collection of dinosaur fossils on display. While in Bozeman, take some time to visit MOR, which is part of Montana State University. Marvel at the T. Rex skeleton (it is HUGE!), take in a show at the Taylor Planetarium, learn about Montana and the surrounding regions.
The museum is not just for kids. The exhibits teach not only about dinosaurs, but also about history of the region, the Yellowstone area, and the skies. Education programs for the whole family are available throughout the year.
Outside, visit the Living History Farm. Period buildings, a working blacksmith shop, and gardens depict life as it would have been at the end of the 19th century. Costumed interpreters give live demonstrations on cooking, baking, forging, and gardening.
The museum is open all year long. It is a great place to go for a change of pace, to learn, and to stay warm and dry (just in case you come across some unpleasant weather). Ask your favorite B&B host for more information.
