The Daly Mansion
The Daly Mansion is the historic home of American industrialist Marcus Daly. It is located on 46 acres in Hamilton, Montana, in the Bitterroot Valley between Stevensville and Darby. The exhibits at the mansion tell the story of Mr. Daly and his rise from working-class immigrant to copper magnate.
The Mansion is a Georgian Revival Style home, renovated in 1910 by Mrs. Daly, 10 years after the death of her husband. The 24,000 square foot home has 7 fireplaces, a music room, dining room, living room, sun room, spectacular foyer, and many other rooms including a trophy room. The original wall coverings which still grace the walls are made of silk, grass, and hand-painted paper. Much of the flooring is quarter sawn oak parquet. There are 25 bedrooms, 15 bathrooms, and 3 dining rooms.
The Daly Mansion is the home of many local events during the year, including Daly Days in July, the Holly Jolly Artisan Craft Show & Sale in November, the Christmas Tea and Tour in December, as well as a community Christmas party.
Tours run hourly from mid-May until early October. In the off season, tours are available by appointment. Check their website for more information.
The Mansion is a Distinctive Destination of the National Trust for Historic Preservation.
