Hamilton Montana - Ravalli County Seat

Montana Mountains

In southwestern Montana in the heart of the Bitterroot Valley is the town of Hamilton, the county seat of Ravalli County.  The town was formed in the late 1800’s by then copper king Marcus Daly.  Today Hamilton is a small town surrounded by ranches, orchards, and small farms.  It is near Darby, Victor, Stevensville, and a short drive to Missoula.

Outdoor enthusiasts find themselves in the middle of the Bitterroot National Forest, able to take advantage of fly fishing, hunting, nordic skiing and all things outdoors.  The Selway-Bitterroot wilderness is nearby.

There’s lots to do in the town of Hamilton.  The Daly Mansion has tours of the original home owned by Marcus Daly.  The Ravalli County Fairgrounds is a center for larger events throughout the valley.  Check their calendar to see what is coming up.  With so many orchards in the area and the pristine Bitterroot River running through it, what a great place to make cider.  Downtown provides a local brewery, cider, and lots of good restaurants.
