Kalispell - Hub of the Flathead Valley

Conrad Mansion

Considered by many to be the trade and financial center of the Flathead Valley, Kalispell continues to focus on growth for its residents. Originally a railroad town, the tracks were ‘ripped out from underneath” Kalispell over a century ago.  The town had to find other sources of industry and employment.

Kalispell is home to Kalispell Regional Health Care Center, meeting the needs of its growing population.  Flathead Valley Community College is also growing and becoming a premier institution for higher learning.  The Hockaday Museum of Art, the Museum at Central School, the Conrad Mansion, and the Glacier Symphony and Chorale provide cultural opportunities for the Flathead Valley.

Opportunities for outdoor fun abound in Kalispell.  The Foys Lake to Blacktail Trail provides miles of biking or walking paths.  Lone Pine State Park and Herron Park have miles of hiking trails, cross country skiing trails, picnic areas, and viewpoints.  For more organized sports, look for one of the many golf courses located in town or in the surrounding areas or Bigfork, Whitefish, or West Glacier.

Winter brings lots of snow and skiing!  Downhill skiing is close by at Whitefish Mountain Ski Resort and at Blacktail Mountain Ski Area. Cross country ski trails can be found all around town as well as in Bigfork, Blacktail, and Glacier National Park.  Many lakes and ponds freeze over in winter turning into nature’s skating rinks.

Kalispell is a hub of activity and festivals.  The Event at Rebecca Farms, Amadeus Festival, Celtic Festival, Arts in the Park, Pond Hockey Classic tournament, Dragon Boat Races, Great Bear Festival and Northwest Montana Fair and Rodeo attract visitors from all around.

Arriving at Glacier Park International Airport in Kalispell, gives access to Lakeside, Somers, Bigfork, Marion, Whitefish, Columbia Falls, Glacier National Park, Hungry Horse Reservoir, and the Flathead Lake.
