St. Ignatius - Nestled in the Mission Mountains

St. Ignatius Mission

Located on the Flathead Indian Reservation, south of Flathead Lake and north of Missoula on route 93, is the small town of St. Ignatius.  It is famous for the St. Ignatius Mission which is listed on the National Registry of Historic Places.  It’s worth a stop to see the mission, which is usually open to the public.

St. Ignatius is near the National Bison Range, Ninepipes Wildlife Refuge, and the Garden of 1000 Buddhas.  Each of these outdoor places can take a half to a full day, depending on your time and interest.  This is a beautiful part of the Mission Valley, with the Mission Mountains towering to the east.
