Thompson Falls - Peace along the Clark Fork River

The county seat of Sanders County, Thompson Falls, MT sits along the Clark Fork River in western Montana.  Beautiful forested areas provide miles of hiking trails throughout the Lolo and Kootenai forests.  Fishing is a main outdoor activity.

A short distance from here is Ninepipe Wildlife Refuge, the National Bison Range, and the Ross Creek Cedar Grove.  In town, visit the Old Jail Museum, or see the Thompson Falls Dam which creates an island between the dams where there is hiking, a picnic area, and a scenic overlook.

For outdoor fun nothing beats the Thompson Falls Reservoir or Thompson Falls State Park.  There is also a non-motorized trail system located throughout town.  This town is great for birdwatching, boating, water skiing, and fishing, For fun for the whole family, look for David Thompson Days, the Flatiron quilt show, Farmers Market, and the Harvest festival.
